KUAGeneral Definition of Work

Performs routine physical work in handling, sorting and delivery of mail documents, boxes and packages to departments and divisions. Operating of a motor vehicle to make deliveries and pickups at multiple locations. Work is performed under little supervision.

Typical Tasks

Handles internal mail, facilitating mail back and forth among people, offices and departments within the organization including other government locations within the Osceola County. Operates postage machine, postage meter, and mail folding and inserting machine. Determines if the mail is to be sent registered, certified, special delivery, first, second, third or fourth class. Use of the computer to maintain records of receipts, mailing dates, returned mail and other required information.   Called upon during special events to collate, fold and insert material to be mailed. Tracks and maintains supplies needed for mailroom. Checks and reviews a variety of data for completeness and conformance with established regulations and procedures. Uses mail cart daily to transport mail items between offices. Provides excellent customer service to our internal and external customers. Some outdoor travel and stair climbing is involved. Maintains cleanliness of KUA’s vehicle. Exposed to all weather conditions as well as many hazards related with heavy traffic. Performs related tasks as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and related institutions. Basic understanding of operating instructions and processes for office machines. Basic understanding of postage rates and regulations. Knowledge and skill using Microsoft Office products and navigating the internet. Must be able to do routine work and work well with their hands.Able to quickly respond to urgent delivery requests.. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Good time management is necessary. Able to drive in inclement weather.  Must be able to lift or displaced up to 100 lbs.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED and good knowledge of the local  geographical area required. Experience in a related area preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a valid driver's license issued by the State of Florida at appointment time. Required to lift heavy objects.
