Florida Public Service Commission Chairman Mike La Rosa’s bid for reappointment to the utility-regulatory commission took a step forward Wednesday, as he was one of three finalists whose names were sent to Gov. Ron DeSantis. La Rosa, a former state House member, was appointed by DeSantis for a four-year term that started in January 2021. With his term set to expire in January, he and four other candidates submitted applications for appointment to the Florida Public Service Commission Nominating Council. The council met Wednesday in Lakeland and forwarded a list of finalists to DeSantis, who will make the selection. Also on the list are Peter Drao, a deputy secretary with the New York Senate Finance Committee, and Brian Underwood, grants director for the Baldwin County, Ala., Commission, according to the council website.
