JEA Recognizes Three Agency Employees at “Light It Forward” Awards
JEA hosted its tenth annual Light It Forward Awards honoring local human services advocates for their dedication and commitment to serving Jacksonville residents in need at a ceremony at our headquarters today.
Created in 2015, this awards program recognizes the people behind the scenes in local agencies who go above and beyond to help income-constrained customers in the community.
Each year, these agencies provide millions of dollars in utility bill assistance to JEA customers who need it most. Representatives from over two dozen agencies who work collaboratively with JEA attended the event.
JEA CEO and Managing Director Vickie Cavey addressed the attendees saying, “At JEA, we believe in the power of partnership. Our customers count on us to deliver reliable services at reasonable rates. We are proud to work alongside these dedicated agencies, forming robust partnerships that serve our community's most vulnerable residents.”
JEA recognized the following recipients with 2024 Light it Forward awards:
- Nicole Andrews, The LJD Jewish Family & Community Services, Inc. geriatric case manager | See video
- Christopher Jones, City of Jacksonville program manager, Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program | See video
- Jessica Kloke, Northeast Florida AIDS Network director of special programs and administration | See video
This past year, JEA customers received more than $3 million from local agencies that process local and federal utility bill assistance. In addition, many customers received assistance from the federal CARES Act in the form of the Homeowner’s Assistance Fund and the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Fund. In all, financial assistance provided to JEA customers totaled nearly $13 million.
