JEA Ready for Potential Hurricane Milton, Advises Customers to Prepare
JEA leaders are monitoring Tropical Storm Milton and will be prepared to respond to storm impacts here in Northeast Florida.
The tropical storm is expected to become a hurricane late Sunday or early Monday, and heavy rainfall will be a widespread threat for Florida. Consistent heavy rainfall over the next several days could total 6 inches or more in Northeast Florida, particularly along the coast, according to forecasts. Tides into Jacksonville may increase to 3 to 5 feet above normal Wednesday evening due to moderate onshore winds north of the storm track.
JEA customers should be prepared for flooding and possible power and water outages later this week.
Before the storm, JEA encourages residential and commercial customers to visit //jea.com/storm to ensure their contact information is up to date and to register for power restoration alerts.
Customers also can prepare by:
- Ensuring supply kits are stocked.
- Bringing loose outdoor items indoors.
- Ensuring trees are trimmed near your home or business.
- Charging cell phones and mobile chargers.
- Reviewing family or business emergency plans.
