FMEA Releases Monthly Electric Bill Comparison for October 2020
FMEA’s Electric Bill Comparison for October 2020 shows the average bills of public power utilities across Florida are $17.39 less than the average bills for investor-owned utilities per 1,000 kW.
Overall, out of fifteen ranked categories, the City of Mount Dora reported the lowest bills in ten categories, Lakeland Electric in three categories and the City of Williston and the Utilities Commission of New Smyrna Beach in one category each.
For residential bills, out of three categories, Lakeland Electric reported the lowest bills in two and the City of Williston in one.
For commercial bills, out of eight ranked categories, the City of Mount Dora reported the lowest bills in six categories, and the Utilities Commission of New Smyrna Beach and Lakeland Electric in one category each.
In the industrial sector, out of four ranked categories, the City of Mount Dora reported the lowest bills in all categories.
The FMEA Electric Bill Comparison provides a fair comparison of customer bills served by different utilities. The report includes utility rates, average franchise fees of 6 percent, and local payments in lieu of taxes.
