Florida Municipal Electric Association Elects New Officers
As part of its annual meeting in Bonita Springs, the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA) elected new officers to preside over the organization’s board of directors. Serving in executive positions on the board are President Mike Poucher, director for Ocala Electric Utility; President-elect Allen Putnam, director of Beaches Energy Services in Jacksonville Beach; Vice President James Braddock, director of support services and internal auditing for the City of Wauchula and Secretary-Treasurer Rob McGarrah, general manager of the City of Tallahassee electric utility.
“For more than 30 years, I’ve had the honor and privilege of directly serving my community by ensuring all my fellow residents have safe, reliable and affordable power. I’m proud to accept this leadership role so that I can continue to serve on behalf of all of Florida’s public power communities and their customers,” said Poucher. “This board is energized and ready for a bright year ahead.”
FMEA is the statewide trade association representing Florida’s public power utilities. The association actively represents and advocates for member cities’ interests on a wide variety of state and federal issues, provides education and training for members and serves as a clearinghouse for industry news and information.
Public power utilities have been providing affordable, reliable electric service for more than a century. As community-owned and locally managed organizations, these utilities are focused on serving local needs and interests while reinvesting back into the community.
