City of Fort Meade Hires Jan Bagnall as City’s First Electric Director

The City of Fort Meade welcomed Jan Bagnall, who joined the city Feb. 3 as its inaugural Electric Director. In this role, Bagnall will oversee the city’s electric utility system operations and all electric utility staff.

Bagnall brings to Fort Meade more than 15 years’ experience in the energy industry. Most recently, Bagnall served as Vice President of Liberty Utilities in Ontario, Canada. There, he led transmission development efforts for North America, managed cross-functional utility teams such as operations, finance and regulatory, and forged relationships with utilities and energy industry stakeholders.

In addition, Bagnall has significant experience in building and managing energy trading businesses, regulatory and market strategy development, transmission interconnection and planning, contract negotiation, and fundamental utility operations. Bagnall is a U.S. Navy veteran.

“I am confident Jan will be a good addition to our team as our very first electric director,” said City Manager Danielle Judd. “He comes to Fort Meade with a wealth of experience and ready to hit the ground running.”

The City of Fort Meade in Central Polk County, Florida serves approximately 2,400 electric utility customers. Fort Meade has owned its public power utility since 1925.
