OUC Sponsors Tennis Programs for Vets, People with Disabilities

Offered by U.S. Tennis Association in Lake Nona, Free Clinics Promote Physical Activity

OUC — The Reliable One announced today that it is sponsoring the U.S. Tennis Association’s free tennis programs for military veterans and people with disabilities.

The USTA’s military tennis program seeks to help active and former armed service members reconnect to recreational activities through weekly tennis clinics. The free clinics are designed to provide veterans, some suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and other life-changing injuries, with an outlet to stay active and healthy both physically and mentally. They’re offered every Monday from 6-7 p.m.

The tennis association’s National Rollers Program is designed to introduce people with a physical disability to wheelchair tennis. Offered on Thursdays from 6-7 p.m., the clinics provide “sport” wheelchairs and racquets at no charge to participants.

OUC is the presenting sponsor of both programs.

Military veterans make up more than 10 percent of the utility’s workforce. As an organization, OUC routinely recruits veterans, funds programs to help those who provide valiant service in defending our nation and our employees volunteer their time to care for veterans in our community.
