Ocala LogoOcala Electric Utility (OEU), in collaboration with the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA), will once again host the 2025 Florida Lineman Competition at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala on Saturday, March 1. This prestigious event will bring together skilled line workers from across Florida and beyond to compete in a series of rigorous challenges that showcase their expertise, dedication to safety, and commitment to powering our communities.

The event begins with opening ceremonies at 8 a.m., and competitions will run until approximately 3 p.m. Admission is free, and the event will feature family-friendly activities, local food trucks, and information about careers in the electric utility industry.

The Florida Lineman Competition, established in 2001 by FMEA, is a time-honored tradition celebrating the essential work of line workers. Participants will face real-world scenarios, including pole climbing, transformer repairs, hurt man rescue simulations, and mutual aid events, all emphasizing teamwork and professionalism in the field.

"We are thrilled to host the 2025 Florida Lineman Competition at the World Equestrian Center, a premier venue for world-class events," said Doug Peebles, Director of OEU. "This is an incredible opportunity to honor the skills and dedication of Florida’s line workers while highlighting their critical role in ensuring reliable electric service. We’re proud to bring this event back to Ocala and invite everyone to join us in celebrating these unsung heroes."

This marks the sixth time Ocala has hosted the Florida Lineman Competition, with the most recent event held in 2014.
