KUA Joins Hurricane Florence Restoration Effort

Utility crews from Kissimmee Utility Authority are en route to Bennettsville, South Carolina this morning to help restore power in an area devastated by Hurricane Florence.

KUA sent 10 linemen, a convoy of eight vehicles and several thousand pounds of supplies to assist the Bennettsville Utility Department with the restoration of electricity. The city has approximately 9,000 residents.

Those traveling from KUA include Jamie Boswell, Alvin Fred, Austin Gunther, Daniel Hernandez, Alvin Fred, Dustin Kelley, Garry Lamb, Logan Murphy, Billy Sutphin, Barney Thompson and Billy White.

Located in Marlboro County, Bennettsville is known for its historic homes and buildings from the 19th and earl­y 20th centuries — including the Bennettsville Historic District which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In 2017, KUA crews provided mutual aid to utilities in Orlando, Lakeland, Key West and Puerto Rico following hurricanes Irma and Maria.
