Good News! Utility Bills Proposed to be Lower Next Year

Commission to Consider Electric and Natural Gas Rates on September 26

City of Tallahassee utility customers may soon see a reduction in their electric and natural gas bills. If approved at this week’s City Commission meeting, the new rates would take effect October 1.

A typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours will see a monthly bill decrease of approximately three percent, from $112.81 to $109.07 below the statewide average of $113.91.

The average natural gas customer will see a savings of 10 percent, from $58.75 to $52.79 on their bills.

Lower bills combined with our community’s outstanding gains in conserving energy and water will result in great savings for households and businesses.
A rate study was conducted earlier this year to examine expenses, system modernization, future expansion and customer growth. The review included Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19) through FY22.
