FPUA Earns Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
For the 29th consecutive year, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This award was granted for FPUA’s annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2022.
“This award is a significant accomplishment by the FPUA Finance Department,” said FPUA Chief Financial Officer Barbara Mika. “It is indicative of the diligence, transparency and fiscal responsibility in which we serve our community.” Michele Harris, FPUA’s Finance Manager, added, “The Finance Department is very proud to receive this award again. Our team works hard to ensure consistent, transparent financial reporting and this award means a lot to us. Even though this is the 29th consecutive year earning this award, the recognition of our dedication and adherence to financial guidelines is never taken for granted.”
In order to receive the certificate of achievement award, FPUA exceeded nationally recognized standards of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)in the preparation of the ACFR, ensuring transparency and full financial disclosure. This award is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting.
The Department of Finance at Fort Pierce Utilities Authority provides comprehensive financial services for all departments of FPUA and is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the financial, accounting, and rate matters. The GFOA has awarded FPUA with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its ACFR each year since Fiscal Year 1994.
