FMEA Releases Monthly Bill Comparison for July 2019

FMEA’s Bill Comparison for July 2019 shows the average bills of public power utilities across Florida are $14.52 less than the average bills for investor-owned utilities per 1,000 kWh.

Overall, out of fifteen ranked categories; Lakeland Electric and the City of Mount Dora reported the lowest bills in five categories each. The City of Bartow reported the lowest bills in three categories and the City of Tallahassee in two.

For residential bills, out of three categories; the City of Bartow reported the lowest bills in all three .

For commercial bills, out of eight ranked categories; Lakeland Electric and the City of Mount Dora reported the lowest bills in five categories each while the City of Tallahassee reported the lowest in two.

In the industrial sector, out of four ranked categories; the City of Mount Dora reported the lowest bills in three categories and Lakeland Electric in one.

The FMEA Bill comparison provides a fair comparison of customer bills served by different utilities. The report includes utility rates, average franchise fees of 6 percent, and local payments in lieu of taxes.
