City of Ocala Announces Ocala Electric Director
The City of Ocala, along with Ocala Electric Utility (OEU), has announced Marvin Ayala as the new Director for OEU. Mr. Ayala served as the Deputy Director for OEU since August 2018 and accepted the role of Director on March 23. Currently, Mr. Ayala oversees the entire OEU Department, including Transmission and Distribution, Construction, Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) Operations, Public Education and Outreach, Resource Management, Substations, Engineering, System Operations, and Power Compliance.
Prior to working for the City of Ocala, Marvin was the Director of Electric Operations for South Norwalk Electric and Water, Manager of Electric Field Operations for Eversource Energy, and Supervisor of Standard Field Operations for the United Illuminating Company in Norwalk, Connecticut. He also served as the Customer Project Manager for Consolidated Edison Company in New York, New York.

Marvin recently graduated with his MBA and has a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Manhattan College. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, including traveling, fishing, kayaking, and planning his next adventure with his family.
Doug Peebles was recently promoted as the Deputy Director of OEU and has been with the utility department since July 2000.
