Each year we hear about more about natural disasters, manmade disasters, and severe weather events. Response operations need to be managed, monitored, and maintained. Timely integration of locational data, scheduling, and system data become extremely important.

This presentation and discussion will help to show how drone data capture GIS, data management assist with situation control and awareness. Examples of emergency responses and use cases of the various geospatial solutions that evolved from these incidents will be discussed.

As part of our Hurricane Preparedness Webinar Series, FMEA invites all personnel from Florida's public power utilities to join us for this webinar on how drone and geospatial data can allow a utility to respond quickly and safely in diaster situations. The presentation will be given by Steve Santovasi, GISP, sUAS, of Burns & McDonnell.

Steve Santovasi, GISP, sUAS is Manager of Geospatial Technology Solutions for Burns & McDonnell. With more than 25 years of experience in geospatial solutions, he is recognized as a leader in GIS, GPS, and UAV Technology for the utility and energy industries.

His drone-based remote sensing expertise includes the development of a nationally renowned UAV program for drone mapping and inspections for Burns & McDonnell and more than 20 Energy Sector organizations. He is known for rapid deployment of superlight, low altitude drones into the geospatial environment, including both fixed-wing and multirotor drones with the ability to collect aerial photography, high-resolution video, Infrared Thermal Imaging, 4 Band Multispectral imagery and near infrared imagery.

These flights result in 3D point clouds, super high resolution orthomosaic imagery, site contours, 3D surface models, digital elevation models, 3D flight logs and aerial photography.
